Firearm shipment instructions

Shipping your Firearm

Contact Wheaton Arms to schedule the shipment of your firearm.

It is legal for any gun owner to ship their firearm by common carrier to a licensed FFL holder for the purpose of repair or alteration.* All complete firearms must be taken to a UPS hub. You are required by law to declare that you’re shipping a handgun. UPS regulations require that all complete handguns be shipped Next Day Air. Long guns may be shipped ground service. Federal regulations require adult signature upon delivery.

NOTE: Do not include ammunition with your firearm. If you need to ship ammo, it must be sent separately.

The firearm should be packed securely so there will be no damage to sights, etc. The original manufacturers’ box provides good protection, but any good box with the item cushioned within to prevent movement will do the job. (Long gun cardboard boxes will not be returned to you.)

Insure for the replacement value of your firearm.

Return address requirements: Physical Address (NO “shipping centers” or PO Boxes) Your firearm will be returned to the address it is checked in from.
Inside the box, be sure to include your name, address, daytime phone number, type of firearm, serial number, caliber and clear, complete instructions covering the work to be done.

Specify caliber, model, any accessories, and special features or accessories sent with the firearm.

Return Shipping: The firearm will be returned directly to the shipper (customer). Unless otherwise requested by the customer, all handguns will be returned by UPS Overnight with Adult Signature Required; long guns will be sent via UPS Ground with Adult Signature Required. Shipping and handling charges are determined by the weight and value of the package. Please contact us for return shipping charge quote.)

*Note: If you have a dealer ship your firearm, it will be returned to the dealer. It is not necessary for you to use a dealer to ship your firearm.

Special notes from UPS:

Getting Your Firearm Products Shipment to UPS

Firearm Products may be shipped only through a UPS Scheduled Pickup Account using various UPS pickup services.

Note: Firearm Products are not accepted for shipment via UPS Drop Boxes or UPS On-Call Pickup®, and may not be tendered to, dropped off, or picked up at locations of UPS Customer Centers, The UPS Store®, any third party retailer, or any UPS Access Point™ location, with the sole exception that pre-packaged, pre-labeled Firearm Products may be dropped off at UPS Customer Centers.

What the note from UPS below means is, you the shipper must contact Wheaton Arms and request a label from us for your shipment. Once the firearm is boxed and ready to ship, attach the label to the package and take the package to the UPS Customer Center (Main Hub) in your area.

Such pre-packaged, pre-labeled shipments can be tendered at a UPS Customer Center. Firearm Products are not eligible for Delivery Change Requests (including, but not limited to, requests to reroute) or UPS My Choice® requests.
